Wandering the streets of Nice one day, on my way to the port, I took a wrong turn and found myself in the narrow, meandering lanes and alleyways of the old city.  It was here that I stumbled across a tiny little shop selling an amazing range of French tablecloths and napery featuring the traditional designs of Provence - olives, citrus fruits, grapes, lavender and rural scenes.  The colours were brilliant and the cloths beautiful to touch - cotton prints and soft woven jacquards - and the prices were everyday affordable.

Throughout my travels, I had noticed how pretty French tablecloths and napery were present everywhere - from the most humble roadside cafés, to grand dining rooms draped in glorious French linens.  My French friends always brought out a crisp, fresh tablecloth - be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a picnic - with the effect that, no matter how basic the table or simple the meal, pretty French linen turned a baguette and cheese into a dining experience.

Being a lover of soft furnishings, I wanted to bring the simple magic of French linens to Australia; offering an extensive range at an affordable price, so that they could be enjoyed by all.

This is how French Linen was born.  My passion for soft French tablecloths and beautiful napery remains as strong as it was on that warm day in Nice, and I look forward to helping you to bring some of that warm French spirit into your home!
